Thanks.

I used ACT in all my previous cars with good results and was
curious to see if anyone tried it on the cts v. Is the LS9X a multiple disc?

The ls9 is a twin disk and about 1100 from tick performance

I have an ACT Twin.
It's the 875 Ft-Lb version with street disks and the standard Heavy Duty pressure plates.
I don't see any reason to go with the Extreme pressure plates or Race Disks.
The ACT Twin works flawlwssly and the pedal is significantly lighter than a V2.
I don't remember what the V1 pedal was like, because I have had so many other clutches in my car.
They all had issues except for this ACT, which drives like stock but handles 7K RPM shifts, no problem.
If you want a cushy sprung-hub, heavy clutch go with the LS9 instead.
I never used an LS9 clutch, so I can't comment on how well it works.
I doubt the LS9 is rated for 875 Ft-Lb.
The only thing you might want to know is that there is some rattle (in neutral) with the ACT that goes away when you step on the clutch pedal.
I imagine the LS9 is rattle free but at the price of a heavier flywheel.
Both my other clutches Luk Gold and RPS Street Twin had rattle but they were also light weight flywheel designs.

PISNUOFF broke a few LS9X clutches making 515 rwhp.

I'm running a single disc ACT and I have yet to experience any problems with it... It does chatter a little at low RPM loads, but handles high RPM shifts no problem. I know you specified a twin disc, but figured I'd chime in with my opinion that they're good quality

Seriously? Those are Zr1 clutches that make more power than that. How did he do that?

The ZR1 is a much lighter car.
Also, who knows if ZR-1 guys are driving their cars that hard, considering most Vette owners just baby their cars.

The ls9x holds 800+ft lbs. Also the flywheel is only 12lbs.

Is that an official torque rating from the company that manufactures the clutch, or just what a reseller claims?

My ACT Twin was purchased and installed at RPM motors when my engine was built.
I probably would have installed an LS9 had it been available.
However, Katch did not offer the kit untill several months after I had the ACT Street Twin.
Nevertheless, the ACT Twin works so well, it's hard to ask for anything better.
I think it's more a matter of deciding between a sprung vs non-sprung hub.

Thanks guys, all good info to help make my decision. I'm not too happy with the pedal pressure of the monster clutch I have in now.

I think there are better options like McLeod. I have read many good reviews of the katech clutches. What power level are you? Anything 500rwhp or under the ls7 clutch is a great buy.

I'm only at 389whp right now, but will be adding some LS3 heads and a magnacharger soon and don't want to do it twice

Yea I don't blame you there, Maggie and heads you'll still be right around 500-510 with that 112 maxed out. If you have the cash RPS is probably the best twin disc for lsx cars but they are pricey.

I have the ACT twin, same as Lunarx, it drives like stock, revs fast, no chatter. Best clutch I have had in the car and I have had most of them.

I had a Fidanza 6.5 twin disk, but when I blew my engine I found the clutch wasn't in the best shape (http://www.submariner.org/thepno95/Pictures/CTS-V%20pics/Blown%20Engine/clutch%20hot%20spots.jpg). I talked to Fidanza and they had stopped making / servicing the old 6.5 and 7.6 clutches. But, they hooked me up with a deal on an ACT twin disk.
Mine's a T1S rather than a T1R, and I only had about 150mi on it before I had to leave my car for a couple months, but so far, so good. ACT has a very good reputation with other makes, so I don't anticipate having any issues with this setup in the Caddy. It's got their lightweight steel flywheel, rather than the aluminum flywheel that the Fidanza had, so it's heavier (the old Fidanza setup was ~33#, the ACT setup is ~47#), but still a heckuva lot lighter than the stock boat anchor. I think as I get more time to drive the car I'll appreciate the added weight in the flywheel for ease of driveability.

will that ACT twin work for a LS1 style fbody? if not, can it be made to work? I have a friend getting rid of one for $500 w/ flywheel.

Id bet the ACT Twin would work on an LS1. It works for the LS6 CTS-V1 by adding a slave spacer.

I have the ACT Twin T2S-G01 in my C5 and I don't like it. Has 2k miles on it now. It drives ok and feels fine, more pedal pressure than the textraila I used to have.
However.......it is noisy as hell on take off about 1/3 of the time. ACT said that it was "normal".. Not chatter, but a groaning. More annoying than anything else.
Running a Tick adjustable master to see if that made a difference, nope....
I won't buy again. My buddy had a T1SR-G01 and it didn't last very long. Both of these cars were modded C5's. C5 and F-body use the same exact clutch.
Looking at buying a CTS-V here shortly, and would go a different route if I were in the same situation again.
