Newbie help w/ installing rockers I understand the process in adjusting the rockers/lifter preload on my 1.85 Comp rockers but I can't seem to get consistant results. 
My problem is that I'll adjust the intake valve rocker and the allen center will be very shallow while the exhaust rocker [allen center] will be very deep (or visa versa). There is no consistancy. Also, there is so little room between the cylinder head edge and the back of the rocker. I can barely get any pressure on the pushrod to spin it. After doing a single cylinder, I can barely feel the tips of my fingers.
Zero lash seems very hard to determine because of the hard to reach pushrods. Are there any tricks? Should I go ahead and turn the locks 1 full turn since I can't spin the pushrods with any force? Anybody have any advice?

Sorry no one has answered this yet for you. A friend of mine is going through the same thing. He got the proper advice on this over in our Northwest thread. Go over there and look at the Rocker Arm install problem thread and good luck.

Aw hell, here's a cut an paste of it. Hope it helps.
"Nate @ Nasty Perf called me. Nice! He gave me new instructions for torquing down the rockers. (get it to tdc, then tighten them down until the pushrod does not turn, and then 1 - 1 1/2 turns to 22 ft/lbs) But he agreed with checking for spark first....I'll aslo check for fuel (injectors clicking). But he said in all the cars they put these 1.8s on...and there have been several....nobody with a stock motor has needed shims. My car just wants to be different maybe. So I'll pick up some washers just in case, & dig into it again tomorrow."
