Plasti dip just ends up getting a dirtyness to it that you can't wash off. Have you tried taking it to a autobody shop? The car might be oxidized and just needs to be buffed out. It will save you the most in the longrun

This is not oxidation, and as cheap as possible Jerry

One day paint or macco is going to be your cheapest, honestly it cost more to paint it yourself then it does at those places

At those places, you are going to get what you pay for. A cheap price, for a shitty ass paint job. You'll have paint runs, and spots with almost no clear. It' your choice if you want it to look like ass or not.

dont make a decision based on how much its going to cost, make a decision based on how long you are going to keep your car... If you plan on keeping it couple of years and then moving on then dont paint or go to macco but if you plan on keeping it longer wait until you get more money to do it right... Just my two cents...

whats a good paint job cost? im in the same boat as OP, my roof has begun to peel and im getting spotts all around the car where the clear is peeling off. I think the old 94 is ready for a paint job.

Paint doesn't stop you from driving your car Chris... Just keep saving until you can afford to do it right.

This, especially if you're going to be keeping the car for a bit. No paint in having to repaint the car every 3 years from a shitty paint job.

Isn't that an oxymoron?

Took the words outta my mouth. One thing is a good price but a good paint job done right is never really cheap. If you do use one of those bargain paint shops, pay for extra clear coats and get the car color/wet sanded after. That way you see the runoff and orange peel.

If cheap is the only concern, then Maaco, One-day paint, or Earl Scheib.

You can also get vinyl wrap online for pretty decent price, but it's not easy to apply on body panels with complex contours... But for example if the clear is gone one the hood, roof, and trunk, you could always wrap those areas in matte black.

besides oily fingerprints, and bug splats, matte vinyl is easier to clean than paint!

It will pretty much go on top of anything. The problem is when you take it off. A good brand vinyl will not harm good paint, but it has the potential of tearing off chunks of a Maaco paint job. But yeah bring it by and I can check it out.

You still have my number?

Im sure I have it in a PM somewhere, Im not concerned about what happens when I take it off, but I need to get something on there. Im not sure how this happened to my paint, Im assuming spending life in Fontana just baked it. If you think its doable Ill gladly pay you to help me with it.

I dont have it, pm me with it. Ill go take some pics of it. Its hard to say It reminds me of the clear coat issue the WS6 hoods had but its over the front/sides of the car. The roof and rear bumper and trunk are fine for the most part.

Josh, the car PAINT looks like a car that has been sitting in the desert for 30 years. The clearcoat is gone and it looks semi sandblasted in places. In one spot there is/was metal showing due to the paint just wearing through. Boggles my mind.

It really depends on how long you want to keep the car, but you probably heard this a million times...."you get what you paid for"..and sometimes you get real lucky ^^^

Hey guys, a lot of these quick paint job shops like One Day and Earl Scheib are franchise buisnesses. This means every shop is a little different. Some may do crappy jobs while others actually turnout decent paint jobs. I knew an Earl Scheib in LA off Soto St where the guy that owned it did great work. He painted a 69 Camaro a left it looking awesome. Ive also been to another Earl Scheib where it looked like they painted cars with gravy. So it can depend sometimes who owns the shop and how they run it. Maybe Rpdvette found a One Day Paint where the guys there actually care and do good work. The hard thing is looking for and finding these places.

I went to Maaco in Riverside and was impressed with what I got. Its been a year and aside from the water spots (my fault), the paint looks great. I have not found any defects/mistakes, but I am no pro. And it came with a 4 year warranty.

I did my wheels and they have been remarkably durable. Once I figured out the best distance and technique, the results were smooth and just glossy enough to where I did not need to add any glossifier.

On an odd note, I have not noticed them get dirty either. I have not washed or wiped them down since applying it, but I have rinsed them. I did notice that if the finish comes out smooth, they don't collect dirt like a rough finish.

Good luck, and share your results.
