New LS1 Owners - Newbie Tech - better and quieter pulleys??
is there such a thing for replacement? iv got a squeal that sounds like a bad pulley but cant find the culprit. iv changed the tensioner pulley removed the ac belt put a long screwdriver to each pulley and none sound bad. while im messing with the pulleys i thought there might be better and quieter pulleys out there.

Have you changed the main belt? I know I was chasing a squeak under the hood for a while before I decided to just change the whole main belt and the squeak vanished.
recently, no. i changed it around November last year when i got a new water pump. ill take it off and see if the squeak goes away.
but is there a chance there might be quieter pulleys? when i had my magnaflow exhaust i could hear the belt spinning (no sqeak just spinning) over the exhaust.

Someone else will have to chime in there, I've never heard of any pullies being advertised as quiter before.

That squeal could be the belt slipping. Ive had a few on my truck like that. Over time i guess they stretch and start to slip causing a horrible squealing noise. +1 on the goodyear gatorback belts, they are the only belt i will buy now.
I doubt the belt stretched in less than 2k miles. Could have tho. I'm just going to pull the alt and idler to regrease them. Only 2 pulleys I haven't messed with other than wd40 on them.

belt squealing is caused by bad idler, bad tensioner (puller/whole thing causing belt to slip), power steering puller, alternator pulley. your a/c pulley isnt gonna squeel. if it goes bad it will lock up and you will know it
I'm leaning towards my alt. it's a rebuilt autozone one and it has chirped in the cold since I got it went away now I think it's coming back 24/7 now.

how many miles on your motor ?with high miles the balancer grooves can wear causing a bigger gap where the belt meets the pulley.
Not sure PO put a 98 in it. Not documentation just junkyard writing everywhere. Carfax was clear
