Im looking at a 98Z hard top 6 speed that is for sale from a local seller and I want some opinions on whats it's worth. First of it has about 128K miles with a brand new GM ls1 long block crate motor and LS6 clutch professionally installed that i was able to verify. The color in dark blue, body is 7 out of 10 with a few door dings, no frame damage, a fair amount of rock chips and scratches but it runs awesome. 9 outta 10 interior only because it's a little dirty and has a little wear on some plastic trim panels but no rips on the seats. It is a strip model with no options- crank windows, no PL, no defroster, manual seat, etc, new front tires, LT headers and aftermarket catback. Its a great running car and pretty fun to drive. Just getting ideas on what its worth, he is asking $8500...

This basically is a $5,000 car that is being sold for $8,500 due to the new motor and clutch. Is the $3,500 difference worth it?? Personally I don't think so because once it gets driven a bit the value goes right back to the $5,000 area. Very few will pay much more than that. It is still a higher mileage 14 year old used car in every other regard and things will be requiring repair. If you can pick it up for around $6,000, maybe $6,500 then that would seem to be a much more comfortable price area 'just in case'. Remember in a worse case scenario a trade-in price is now down into the $3,500 area for a '98 Camaro like this. Hard to believe. The 'newer' engine won't even be considered by most. Good luck!

cool thanks for the opinion, I figured that price was a bit high. I dunno if he will take $6k but I guess I could ask- worst he could say is no.
