Gears & Axles - How does this look?

I installed a set of motive 3.42 gears and now im changing the oil after 500miles. I'm having the same problem some people are having such as whining in between coast and very slight acceleration.

Did you put the compound on the ring gear or the pinion? Need to put it on the ring gear and turn the differential with an axle to create some resistance. The way it looks right now, I cant really decipher a gear pattern.

This is after 500 miles and if you can tell the lighter shade on the tooth is where contact is being made.

Did you set them up? What was the back lash on install? Gear pattern? If they whine badm they are set-up wrong.

My first recommendation is to get some real, proper gear paint. Best 3.99 you can spend. If the lighter shade IS your pattern, it seems way wrong and you should stop driving it. Spray on brake quieter seems to work best in a pinch from my limited experience.
