Texas or Africa? yes to both. Was stationed in Ingleside, Texas and NAS Corpus Christi. Escorted out of gas station in Orange, Texas and Vider, Texas for behind the wrong color in the wrong place as explained by the police officer that asked the attendant to put his gun down. Yes i was in uniform also... Never had it happen overseas except England where they have black taxis for minorities... I hope it has changed over there as i haven't been back to England since 97... I did a tour in Asmara (a spook site, Google up 4th ASA Field Station) when it was still part of Ethiopia, before they won back their independence. It used to be a nice place, at least as nice as Addis, but now it's a socialist state, receiving aid from North Korea, of all things.

If you can get permission to travel there, check out the old road from Asmara to Massawa. It's bad to the bone on a bike or an old Fiat Abarth, especially the section from Asmara to Nefasit.
