My heads and can package shipped off today, I'm excited! (anything recommendations?
My heads and cam package from Texas speed shipped off today. I decided to go with the LS6 PRC heads and 228r camshaft with 112 LSA.
I went ahead an tried to cost conscious approach to upgrading the engine for the increased stress. Those include the following.
LS7 lifters, LS2 Timing Chain, GM Multilayer steel head gaskets, comp trunions.
Any other recommendations or stuff that's liable to break on me?
With that said, my 2002 corvette dynoed 370 rear wheel horsepower at lane culver's. It has the following mods.
American racing longtube headers.
American racing x-pipe with highflow cats.
Corsa Touring Mufflers.
SLP black wing intake.
Vararam Below.
I wonder what gains I can expect from the heads and cam.

If the C5s are like the C6s I'd definately change the oil pump unless you have low mileage and I'd change the UD pulley while I had it off. And by like the C6s I mean having to take the rack out to get the balancer off. Not something you want to do fairly often.

Nah I don't really care to install an underdrive, heard of to many underdrives installed that resulted in some pretty bad results 6000-8000 miles later...
Besides, I am sure the stock crank pulley and the power steering pulley and the rest are all sized appropriately for the car.
What fuel pump do you guys recommend? What 42 lbs injectors?
Oil pump...hmm I believe it was changed around 94,000 miles. So it only has 15,000 miles on it.

I've been running a SLP UD for about 12k miles and no problems. Oil pump should be fine if its basically new. I'd get some 42lb racetronix. They'll leave you room to grow. I've been running them with no problems. Stock fuel pump should be fine if your not spraying but I've got a racetronix with a hotwire kit.

Well I broke down and decided to buy some ls7 lifter trays and a mellings hp 18 percent higher volume oil pump.
Maybe this is just snake oil, I don't know, but I'm putting a better oil pump in.
Is it just me or am I getting the idea that General Motors under engineered these cars so they would break down... Lifter trays that crack, graphite head gaskets, torque to yield head bolts, and an oil pump that can barely handle stock power... What gives lol.
