I messed up my a/c compressor trying to fix the bearing in the clutch. I have a new compressor and am wondering how to install it and what i all need. I have a mechanic buddy that can charge the system for me. He simply said to bleed the r-134a out, then take off the lines and put new compressor back in and he will come charge it for me. He also said to pour oil into the low side line before putting it back on the compressor.
I've never messed with an a/c system before is this how you are supposed to change one out? Seems like there would be more to it, and also which line is the low side line? How do you know how much oil to put back into the system?
I have read where people just measure how much oil drains out of the old compressor, is that right? Also both him and my dad said I didn’t need to replace the dryer or any of that other stuff because it isn’t humid around here and I would only have the lines open for a very short period of time.
