Florida Members - Anyone around the Daytona Beach area?

I'm just curious how the car scene is down there? Next year I'll be moving to Daytona Beach to go to school at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University... From what I've heard Florida has some pretty sick cars and being from the Houston area the car scene here is pretty big. I know the NASCAR track is literally right down the road from the school and so is the beach which I'm more than sure I'll be making a few visits to. :cheers:

It's not bad. Not like it use to be tho. There are two good sized car shows a year here. But not to bad. Riddle also has a muscle car club. Or atleast the use to ...

What about weekly weekend meets? We usually go down to mexico here and have some racing. Is there any good dig spots?

few good dig spots here and there. Some quick cars here so be sure you know what you are running against lol and there is a weekly meet in Daytona at a local Steak and Shake and some solid spots to go in orlando on saturday nights...the riddle website is

There is something going on every week/end within 30-40 min drive if nothing local.

I live about 20 min outside of daytona and havent seen much yet, I work out of town so im only home every other week. Ive seen some pretty sick rides in Daytona, just not much for meets or anything. That steak and shake one i drove past just looked like they were all driving around drifting in the parking lot and mostly imports that night. If i find anything decent ill be sure to post up here.

I am here, and work at the speedway. ERMCA seems to have migrated to Facebook. As I understand, thursdays are still good at Steak and Shake....

He does have a garage but its occupied by his pro charged camaro, (that hasnt seen daylight in 3 months) busa, tools, and motorized ice chest. Lol.

Header install is a half day deal. I am pretty booked thru Bike Week, but if you can wait a bit, and want to buy lunch and beer, I would be glad to watch you work :-). I have the tools, and would love to turn a wrench. Never know when I might need a hand :-).

I am planning on going to Bithlo Dec. 15th with some guys from work. Anyone is welcome to meet me out there. I'll be the guy in the white Z28 cutting terrible 60's on street tires.

Need to plan something after the New Years for sure. My car doesn't see daylight often enough. Hell, my new exhaust is collecting dust on the box. I need to pull the headers, do some poly motor mounts, then get the car to the exhaust shop to make a new y pipe and install the new exhaust... Ugh!

Sounds good to me, gives me time to work on a few things on my car as well. It would be nice to get something going eventually, tired of going to all the little get togethers in the area and it only being all imports.

I am going to check out Steak n Shake on ISB tonight. That'd be cool to get together after new years.

Yoda, I'll have to talk to you about paint for the hood I'm getting from Cooldude. I also want to fill the holes in my bumper from pulling the plastic thing.

I'll post pics of the headers & hood post install.

Side note, I just noticed FTI is right around the corner from where I work in Deland! thats pretty cool. I guess I'll be heading there when its time to build my trans.

definitely recommend FTI!..Gregg was great and my stall is going on 2 years with 0 problems and i LOVE it!

Apparently a guy I work with at Pall welds converters at FTI after hrs.

We're going to Orlando Speed world on the 15th, everyone is welcome to meet us out there. Look for Orange challenger and a White Z28.

Lol nope. Had it up at Oktoberfest at Silver Springs. Last time it got started. Next year I am participating Friday and working Saturday.

I work in NC grew up in Orlando ( thats where my bird is ) but live in Edgewater New Smyrna boarder . I hope to have my bird in the area this year and get out some with it.

hey n20Mike..i live right there where you are. i'm behind the suntrust on us1. i do the canal street thing every now and then...well till i hit the dog and mangled my passenger fender...now i go and walk it sometimes.

Good luck at ERAU. from an Alumni. My dad graduated from their as well. The city and the car scene in Daytona isn't what it used to be but I am sure you can dig some things up. I plan on settling back there one day. I miss the smell of the sulfur air!
