Default can't check codes

my ses light came on the other day and when i tried to check the code today with a scanner, the scanner wouldnt come on, so i had a friend try to auto tap it and it couldnt get a connection. the car seems to run fine so im not too worried about the light being on, but not being able to check the code really bothers me. does anybody know why i cant check the code?

thanks

im 99.999% sure, its due to a blown fuse for your ciggarette lighter.

the ciggarette ligther powers the OBD-2 port too

you hit it right on, the fuse was blown, i wonder if that could also be the cause of the ses light to begin with?
