Was wondering where the Chevy and GMC 2012 6.0L engine is called? Is it an LS3 or what? I noticed the 2010 Camero thread, is the engine similar to that engine?

I may be wrong but I think that motor would be called an LY6. The camaro's have a 6.2l motor so it would be a tad bit bigger. The heads should be close to the same, just different valves.

It is an LY6, which is basically an lq4 with variable valve timing. The LS3 is a 6.2L engine.

Thanks for the info, one thing I forgot to add is the 2012 GMC 6.0 has a cast iron block.

Recently I got a LMC Truck Chevrolet & GMC Pickup & SUV 1999-12 catalog. I was thumbing through it and found on page 7 a VIN decoder explaining all the digits in the VIN number.

My VIN works out to be
Made in USA/GM/GMC/Extended Cab 10,000-14,000lbs/3500 Work Truck/Driver&Pass Airbags/6.0L-L96/2012/Fort Wayne
