I'm going to be looking for a new cam soon. And it seems like most of the specs on the cams are very similar. You hear of TSP, TR, Vengence racing, Futral...... Does the shop grind matter?? I've found a few in the 228/232 600 lift or so cam. I'm not looking for a drag car. Just a strong street car. I have the following....

2004 LQ4
799 heads (may take off 30ths)
CAM?????
Comp 26926 springs (.675 lift)
Victor Jr carb intake
Edelbrock 750 carb.
Built 700r4 (2800 stall)
3.73 geared posi 12 bolt.
My 1953 Chevy 210 weights about 3300 lbs. And I want it to sound bad ass.

I want the hp/tq to be on the low/mid end, or just a good all around cam. I don't want to have to get into the high rpm range to find the power. I'm thinking something along the lines of the TSP 228, but I've seen a few Torquer V2's in the classifieds.

Also, should I stay below 600 lift? Or will going slightly over .600 be ok for a street car? I'm lost on the 6.0. I done most of my research on the 5.3 that I had.

When using stock rocker arms you should try to stay below 400 lbs of open spring pressure to avoid damaging the valve tips.

A cam in the .580" lift range would accomplish that. The Comp Cam "Cheater HR lift rule" lobes would work great.
