lt4 hotcam valve spings?
I have an lt4 hotcam in my 94 z and 1.6 roller rockers. I'm getting valve float so I would like to know what valve springs to put in my car. Links are always appreciated. Thank you.

Even the springs in the LT4 kit I hear are garbage. There are many fine upgrades you can go with. Patriot golds and Comp Cam Beehives are fairly common. It's up to you.

Running your car the way it is very scary. Cammed with stock springs and pushrods WOW! You wont bend pushrods due to valvesprings. However you will bend pushrods with float when the valve smacks the piston cause its flopping around in the chamber as its floating. Considering how cheap a set of pushrods is you are very brave not to just throw a set in there while you have it apart. Its a no brainer to change all of the valvetrain to guarantee it wont fail and cause further damage and more $$$$.
The offer is there for a great set of springs and trying to lend some very helpful advice so you dont do more damage cheaping out that will bite you in the *** down the road and cost you way more then a set of proper pushrods and springs!

My buddy has the crane cam springs on his lt4 set up...I'm running the LT4 springs, but I'm still on the stock cam with 1.6 rockers..If I ever go with a bigger cam i'm going with Pac.

So they say but do you really want to take the chance when they are so cheap? Id rather spend the 100 bucks +- on a set of comp pushrods to guarantee they wont bend. You bend pushrods you just trashed your motor but all can be avoided by not skimping out when they are so cheap.

yes some cars came with hardened pushrods. I believe only the 95s did however. I have rebuilt the 95 that is in my camaro and it had then so I checked if they were strait and reused them. They have a small dimple in them where they where checked for the hardening test. The 94 engine going in my 69 corvette that I took apart 4 weeks ago did not have then. Neither did the 96 engine that I did the heads gaskets on for a friend.

My '93 had hardened pushrods. You can identify them with the small dot on the side or with a file. The factory ones are only case hardened, I run chromoly ones myself.

i took it apart and the springs were not stock. i had acually bought the same ones that were in there. the problem was that the guy who owned it last put 2 different size valves in it. longer valves means less seated spring pressure and then valve float. i am putting spaces underneath the springs to make more pressure.
