I'm picking up my V tomorrow and have an HPDE event planned for Aug. 4th. I'd like to get a second set of wheels that I can ride on for tracking and keep another set handy for all season.
The vehicle is lowered on H&R lowering springs.
This is what I think I know.

-Forgestar 14's need trailing arm work for proper fitment of tires with lowered vehicles
-Linea Course (http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=6634) wheels I've read have a weird offset that proves difficult.
-Most other wheels I've found little information with respect to lowered vehicles and fitment.
- Could get another set of USED CTS-V stock wheels but I don't know where to look.

My racing friend at Radial Tire in Maryland can help me out with some lightly used racing rubber so it would behoove me to have a second set of wheels handy for proper track grip.
Any help would be appreciated.

I know some people use the team dynamics wheels on the track but some extra stockers would also work. I'll have a set for sale soon.

Just a suggestion, I don't own a set of these.

I checked them out. Looks like a solid match. Wonder what tire size I can run with an H&R drop

Td's are great bought mine from eBay. Tire size square setup 255/40, 265/40 or 275/35. 275/40 square might work need to test that soon. For staggered options no issues on rear with 275/40. 285/35 might fit on back might touch trailing arm which would go great with 255 front if it fits.

I'm thinking 255/40 would work for the drop as there is still a bit or room. Perhaps I'm missing it but is there a thread on tire/wheel sizes appropriate with H&R drops w/ MM spacers?

When I first bought my H&R dropped V it had 255/40 michelin PS2's on it. No rubbing.

for the track. Team dynamics. PERIOD

Watch a DTM or BTCC race. or ask people who race miatas and or Minis.

I'd say you'd be safe with a 255/40 set.

Are H&R's good for track use? What's the spring rate on them?

Having H&Rs. you would want a MUCH higher spring rate in teh rear. i want higher for street use.

See... That's exactly why I was going to sell my H&R's before installing them. Granted, I love the H&R stance but the GC kit comes with stiffer spring rates. The front can be adjusted as low as you wanna go but the rear is limited to about a 1" drop with those 10" springs the kit comes with. I'd be tempted to do what fuzzy logic did and pick up the GC kit and then order some 8" springs in a stuffer spring rate for the rear and be done. I'd have all the adjustment needed at that point.

I am going to ask H&R for a stiffer spring. Emailed them once already.

Let me know what they say about that when they respond bud.

its my plan. stiffen and SLIGHTLY raise the rear and then roll the fenders. Tuck me some 285s.

I plan to widen some stock wheels to 10" and I already have the MAP arms. Just need to install them. I plan to run a 295 out back. Just trying to decide if I'm better off sticking with H&R's or going with the GC kit.

295s... Lowered... Good luck. as is with my Linea corse setup... Im MMs away from the MAP trailing arm on the inside and pretty much FLUSH with the fender. So a 275 allows some room. Once rolled the 285 will basically be FLUSH as well with the fender.

So unless your going with a SUPER SUPER HIGH SPRING RATE.... I mean astronomical... i dont see 295s working.

This is 275/35 Contis before my MM spacers

Kind of hard to see but same setup with the spacers

And with the new 275/30 Nexxen shit I had to get after my fender ate the other tires

I know TommyCompton is running a 295/35 on widened 10" stock wheels with map arms and no issues. That's where I was getting my info from as I plan to run the same setup. He's lowered pretty low as well.

You're pics always look so good! Lol

I'm assuming the difference might be the offset on the wheels with yours being aftermarket. But hell... A 285 will still look a lot nicer back there on a 10" wheel than a 275 on an 8.5" wheel like I'm running now.

I just dont know where yoru going to fit a 295 even with rolled fenders(maybe pulled and with camber)... Stock hieght sure. But lowered... Dunno man.

If I was on my computer, I'd post pics of Tommycomptons car but I'm on my iPhone. He's doing it and it's working for him. He said a 305 though... Forget it. 295 is the max. I'd fully roll my fenders for sure though regardless.

camber might become your friend. I could find his car but dont care. Its gonna be TIGHT as hell witha 295. Probably need camber.. and maybe a slight pull. I plan on this soon to get my 285s on.

I'm curious. If you think H&R vs stock on the track.

If your talking a track only set then I recommend 275/35/18s square set up using Conti GAC scrubs ($100 ea on the used market) with Team Dynamics. It's a solid inexpensive set up. A set of TDs are about $1150 and the GACs are $400. So for about $1650 your set. To operate the traction control switch without a tire pressure monitor system click here (http://ls1tech.com/forums/cadillac-cts-v/1569779-fooling-tpm-system-trackday.html). They fit with the KWV3 kit (lowered to the max) and rolling the fender lips. Roll in as much camber as you can front and rear.

I'm running the TDs as well, also with KW V3 coil-overs. I've got 275/35-18 Hankook Z214s on mine, rather than the used Grand Am tires. I rolled the front fender lips, haven't touched the rears. No issues on track.

Not to get off topic but if I have those 3 dashes on my display for all 4 corners on my tire pressure display but my key fob works, what is likely the problem?

Can you turn off traction control or go into comp mode? Perhaps you need to reprogram the monitors in each wheel.

I rolled the front fender lips, haven't touched the rears. No issues on track.

For some reason the left rear showed some faint scoring on the GAC tire at Road America. The right rear was OK. I rolled the backs just to be safe.

I can fully disable traction control. I took the car to discount and the little sensor tool reads the sensors in the tire so I know they are good but for some reason they aren't registering on the dash. Just the --- on all 4 corners. My key fob works though which is weird.

Man that is strange. After about 50 miles of driving without a TPM value the system deletes the constraint of denying comp mode. Maybe that's what's going on.

It was like this when I bought the car. Assumed they just needed to be reset and since I could still disable traction control, wasn't really a big deal. My buddy is the pervious owner though and he said ever since he had a shop install the headers, the TPMS system went to
--- on all 4 corners. He just figured it was a coincidence and they needed to be reset.

In my car, I also have the --- on all four corners, yet my FOB works and I can go through all modes of traction and stability control. I never messed with trying to reprogram them because my FOB sucks half the time.

NeverSatisfied02

Exactly how my car is. I almost prefer it this way because I don't have to deal with TPMS sensors going bad and stuff but at the same time, it would be nice to know the tire pressures without having to check them manually.
