Carbureted LSX forum - Air cleaner

I just switched to a carb style intake with a top mount 4 barrel throttle body in my 02 WS6. I have already cut away the plastic and metal under the windshield. The throttle body has a 4150 size opening. I was wondering what air cleaner guys with 4th gen F-bodies are running? Thank you.

I went with a Holley Fre Flo(I think). Its that little triangle one and i think Edelbrock makes one too. It fit fine until we needed to bolt on the nitrous plate and 2" spacer.

I wouldnt use the triangle shaped foam filters. They are rock catchers at best, lol That foam deteriorates fast and gets sucked in the carb too easy.

Good point. I've heard the same about the foam. The owner of the car wasn't going to run a filter, but I convinced him to use the one of these for storage and on the way to the track(he only lives a mile from his track).

That's what I was looking at running. I am not worried about having to put a plate in or spacer as my car is running 2 stages of direct port. I just wasn't sure if the filter would fit under the hood.

I think I will only be running the air cleaner on the car when on the street, I plan on running the throttle body open at the track. Is that ok to do?

I have the same cleaner.... It's not very good. I have a dyno graph with two runs. One with the cleaner, one without. It's a 25 horse power difference. I ended up taking the foam out and using a head sock that looks like panty hose as a filtering element. The same things black guys wear.
