How loud is your heads and cam car?
Just got my first h+c+i setup on my 01 ss. Tea heads, 228/232 112 cam, and 92mm fast intake. The valvetrain is LOUD! When im driving past walls it makes me think I have exhaust+header leaks. All the hissing and noise it makes is crazy lol Did any of you guys feel the same when you got h+c for the first time?

Yeah, you need to check your pushrod length. My old car had a TREX V2, cnc heads that were milled .070", fast 90/90, and the infamous Comp R lifters that everyone was leary about b/c they supposedly were super noisy...my valvetrain was super loud at first, like a damn singer sewing machine, then we rechecked the pushrods and they werent long enough. After changing them, the valvetrain was so quiet, i couldnt believe it. It was night and day!

Here is a video of my heads/cam car. You cannot see anything but I do walk around the front of the car so you can get a general idea of what it sounds like. I definitely can hear the valve springs clicking, etc. My cam is on XER lobes and I run dual valve springs.
If you want more details on my build search my name and you can find my build thread.
P.S. my PR's have my LS7 lifters preloaded to right around 0.075" and it still has decent valvetrain noise.

Honestly - you'll hear a LOT more valvetrain noise in almost all cases when you go aftermarket H/C and throw on longtubes; the valvetrain will echo and you'll be able to hear everything hence the very common sewing machine sound our LSx engines are famous for.
I installed my H/C/I/E setup and when I fired her up I was worried about the same thing. so I triple checked my PR length and then I brought it to a buddies shop and had him check the pushrod length. I've put about 6k miles on her since the build and I've come to a realization that it is just the nature of the beast. I have a decent amount of valvetrain noise but I have heard others who's sound even louder than mine.
If you are really worried then have the PR length checked again for verification but honestly - it's something you'll have to get used too. No matter what - you're going to end up with Valvetrain noise. Good luck bro!

Yea thats what I thought. I have the big Ferrea 2.04 valves in my tea heads. LOUD lol
Its my first h c i car so its taking some getting used to the loss of some drivability.

It's like they say, "if you want it to sound stock, keep it stock" because once you go aftermarket, based on your setup - results will always vary and this is just one of those things.
But seriously man - for safekeeping, post a video of the way it sounds and if you continue worrying - check PR length and pre-load. You should be good to go after that bro and then it will be time to enjoy your new setup!

The 228 and 232 lobes are XER lobes most likely which is why they give off that sewing machine sound.
Those lobes were originally designed for SBC applications and have been branched over to the LS platform.
Aside from the noise they make I prefer the newer lobes that are much quieter and offer a better package all around for the ls valve train. I have a cam that is a lot bigger than yours(239/247 110lsa) and it makes no valve train noise with the lobes I have(LSL intake and exhaust).
