what's it take to run 125mph 1/4
no nitrous, N/A preferred. Is it possible on a stock ls1 bottom end with the right heads/cam but also decent street manners?
buddy runs 125mph in his viper and want to see if i can keep it close NA without making an all out race car.
car is stock SS currently with slp lid, ls6 intake, borla, SLP longtubes, t56, ls7 clutch, borla and 3.73 12 bolt strange, stock 241 heads and cam.

Yup, definitely possible. Good friend has a H/C/I SS with ~430whp that traps 125mph.
It's all about the setup. You will definitely need H/C/I + Full bolt-ons. Decent sized cam, good flowing heads, probably a FAST mani.
You also need to be conscious of the weight. Save weight where you can (lighter suspension pieces, dumped X-pipe, etc. Get rid of unnecessary things like emissions, A/C. Pull weight that you can.
Hooking up will also be important. You'll need a good wheel/tire combo, preferably bigs and littles.
I'd also recommend a 4:10 gear. You'll need a better clutch than an LS7 as well if you want to be consistent.
Now if you don't want to go through all that trouble just do a basic H/C setup with some spray lol.

Yes it can be done.
You will need as the above poster said a well thought out H/C/I package and be conscious about the race weight of the vehicle being used.
A strong clutch, rear end, and a 4.10 gear would be preferred with a 4.30 or 4.56 being optimal for a strictly N/A combination.

It can be done but it's difficult. When I had my LS1, I was making 440 rwhp with ported LS6 heads (MTI) and an LG cam. Best mph was a 123.5 but mostly ran 121-122 mph. That was with 4.10s and a race weight of about 3,650 lbs. It seems like you would definately need to cut weight to acheive that goal. Also, it will depend on how you define decent street manners. Seems like the best option is to increase displacement, like a 402 or 408.

I've kinda had that as a goal in mind for a while too, I'm hoping next year after I get the H/C/I done it'll happen. I picked up some 243's a couple weeks ago and am planning on using AI for the porting and cam selection. Definately a FAST 102 as well.
My 3rd gen is pretty well stripped, just need a fab up some aluminum bumper supports and get a fiberglass hood. Weight is already 3180 empty, so after drag wheels, skinnies, and the aforementioned mods I hope to be below 3100. With me, raceweight in the 3350 range.

Thanks for the feedback guys, it sounds like it's a no go on the 346. I'd hate to invest in heads/cam and not meet my goal of beating my buddy. I can see that it can be done, but I'd have to give up too much and I don't want to give up street car ease of driving, been down that road already and it sucks. It has to keep A/C and be driveable without going deaf
