Default mahle pistons what are they like

hey guys building a 346 ls1 not changing stroke but heads pistons ect just wondering what mahle pistons are like thanks guysss

I wouldn't deal with them.....I had problems with them trying to replace a piston for me. They never ended up doing it

I running mahle pistons, 383 stroker, with a 100 shot, no issues at all with the motor, haven't had to replace any so don't know how their cust service is like

they are ok for under a 200 shot. i had mahle in my 347 hit it with a 200 hit didnt last 1 full run no knock and afr was 10.8-11.0 timing was 18*. blew apart ring lands.

For an NA mild rebuild they will do great. You can also get them for a stock rod if you want to try and save a few bucks.

I swear I just read somewhere that Mahle made the pistons for the stock LS1's...

ive heard good. Ive hear bad.


i went diamond.

which was mainly good, and also recommended by procharger, and basically everyone.

i've seen mahle stamp on what was supposed to be "stock" ls6 shortblock. But they are cast and not performance "forged" pistons. Just from what i've read

I believe Mahle is a big OEM supplier.

Mahle builds pistons for LOTS of manufacturers. And yes, they are the O.E. piston in most of the LS motors.

Their Mahle Motorsports division is the "aftermarket" that you want to get. These would be forged racing pistons. They are a great piston, but Ive found that some of the alloys dont support big HP (800+).

I believe they will be some of the longest lasting, and quietest pistons you could get for a mild build.
