Well mine did look perfect, but somehow during my installing, my battery cover ripped, and now looks like it's shitting snow out the side of it.

Are there any good looking ones out there for our V's? It'd be cool to find a metal one and engrave a V into it, or just something better that the stocker (which I'm sure costs and arm and a leg)

Mine was pretty tattered too. I just left it off last time I pulled the battery.

The ODYSSEY that I use can be ordered with a metal heat shield jacket.
Which I did.

This is what I got. When it looks this good, why cover it?
heavymetals got me interested in Odyssey, but I went with a group 78.
1500 cranking amps for the first 5 secs and no need for a bracket, looks big but fits perfect :).

That one wasn't available when I bought mine.
Funny, but I spent a few long conversations on the phone with ODYSSEY about the need for a side post group 78.
The one they had at the time had top posts also, which won't work in a V.

Is that not a little excessive when the engine requires less than half of that to start?

Stock was actually pretty cheap when I got one a couple of years ago. About $20 if I recall. I need another one already though. I replaced my battery a few weeks ago and ripped it putting the new one in. :(

Well, in that case, thanks for all your hard work! :D

I kinda doubt my input changed their minds.
OT, but it really is an example of why GM went BK when you realize the group 101 battery was developed so a division of DELCO could stay in business.

You can never have too much of anything :).
If I have to replace anyway, why not upgrade to something better?
I like how it starts much faster now too .

I think a stock replacement is called a "battery insulator" and they run around $25.

Thanks Boss I appreciate it, but don't worry about it. If they are only $20 sumthin I'll just go buy one. Don't waste $$ shipping that turd.
I'm actually talking to my machinist buddy about possibly making a metal one with either a V logo or a Caddy logo engraved on the front.
