Well we had a track rental down here and headed up to Moroso.. I trailered it there because I figured I would break my rear or clutch this time.. 1st pass out was with the 100 jets.
11.64 @ 124.22 my new best on the 100 jets with a 1.952 60 ft…I Jet up now to the 150’s… real shitty 60 ft 2.090 - 11.57 @127.01!!!! I love that MPH for never having a valve cover off.. O2’s in the 930’s… Every thing is happy.. Go out to do it again but launch a little harder, cross my fingers on the stock rear staying together.. Pulled a 1.97 – slightly better, but still sucked.. grab 2nd, 3rd and go to shift to 4th and grabbed 2nd instead!!! Got out of the gas, back into 4th and get back into the gas and BOOM!!!!
Blow my lid completely apart, taking some of my solenoid wiring with it.. Go to start the car and it revs to the moon every time, so I thought I bent my throttle blade.. Nope. Blew the Sensor and part of the back of the manifold completely out!!! Now I have first hand experience with plastic intakes and NOS.. I guess, the fuel puddled and created a bomb.
Now I know it was due to driver error… I always thought I would be safe enough with a window switch.. Maybe if I just let out of the gas and aborted the run this wouldn’t of happened. Today I put another intake in we had laying around the shop and It ran fine. I also found out It took out my maf even know all the resistors were intact.. Just for precautionary measures I am going to pull the pushrods out and check them all..
I’ll Be back out there in no time.. Sorry for the long post.. Just thought you guys would like to know – It does and can happen…
