Hello there,

I am facing a problem with my A/C in my 98 chevy camaro LS1
the garage replaced the "Joints, O-Rings" in order to stop the leak.
but the problem still exists, its like every 1 month i run out of gas.

his second attempt was to replace the Accumulator but still after 1 month no GAS
so far i spent around 500$ to fix it but i couldn't

took it to another garage he says the problem is caused by the AC compressor, he took it off so i go and bring a new one.

anyway, the one which was on the car had a DELPHI brand tag on it and my question is did GM chevy used Delphi as the stock/original AC Compressor ?
and do you have any idea how to stop that leak.
P.S. no problem with the Evaporator

Cheers

I am no expert but I just replaced the compressor/ex valve and drier on my 96. I purchased a Factory Air Compressor which is made by GM and if the 98 is the same but probably not there was some literature with the compressor that said they are very prone to tweaking/twisting if not mounted correctly and therefor causing leaks.

First you need to determine where the leak is??? If the leak was in the compressor then changing orings in acc/drier wont solve the issue.

Like I mentioned I only know what Ive read and what others on here have been so kind to tell me. You have an LS1 and me the LT1 so the parts are different but the process is the same. Find the Leak, Evacuate the system, replace all the parts, vacuum the system and recharge

Good Luck

any good shop would do a leak test......add UV dye to the refrigerant and look for leaks.....there are also electronic leak detectors.......its not hard to find leaks in the a/c system
