Default EGR solenoid

I just installed my headers and got the EGR pipe off. I have the block off plate for that, but do I really need to remove the solenoid if the pipe isn't functional anymore? Seems like unnecessary work.

Why would you keep the solenoid? It's held on by one bolt and two vacuum lines and is the only component you can actually see in the engine bay in plain sight. Takes about 3 minutes to remove.

I got confused. I meant the EGR valve.

You could leave the valve on but if for some reason the diaphragm fails then you end up with a vacuum leak. Better to have more robust protection back there, IMO. Plus it's only two bolts and about 5 minutes to bolt on the plate.
