This motor came out of a 2009 truck....what the hell is it? L76, LY6, etc??? I'm an old school LS guy so I can't keep all the L this, L that shit straight lol. Does this motor have VVT or DOD? I don't know how to tell the difference. I bought it as a long block.
I'm putting this motor in a mustang coupe with a Carb conversion. I am putting LS7 lifters in it, a custom L92 designed cam, pushrods & dual springs. What else needs to be changed on this thing in order to use the MSD 6010 style box? Do I have to put a LS2 style timing cover on it? I'm a little lost on this newer stuff.
Thanks,
Matt

If it's an '09 aluminum truck 6.0, it is the L76 from the "VortecMAX" truck and would have both VVT and DOD/AFM.

How do you tell if it has both VVT and DOD? 4 of the lifters had those goofy springs made onto them. What else do I need to look for?
I won't be using any of that garbage. I think I read somewhere that if you aren't using any of that you can swap out the front timing cover and use an LS2 cover???

The lifters tell me that it is DOD. What type of timing chain setup?

I haven't pulled the front cover off of it yet.

VVT cover left, nonVVT cover right. Difference should be obvious looking at the area behind the waterpump.

Definitely a vvt motor. So that tells me I need to find an LS2 front cover. Thanks guys.
