Bout to purchase an 06 v so im new to this side of the forum. Iv been searching the net but no luck with a variety of headers to chose from. Not wanting to spend a lot for brands like kooks. I had a set of pacesetters on my lt1 I liked but I'm leaning towards more of a stainless header this time. Any ideas where I could find some for reasonable? I herd obx are legit but the ones I found were $1200. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check my for sale thread, for less then a set of kooks, you can have Headers, cats, full exhaust

Pre welded too! Any header setup you have to cut into the factory catback!

And don't try to tell me you don't smell like exhaust when you get out of that car ;)

Never said your setup wasn't superior. I prefer cats.

Cats ftw. I bought it originally with the offroad fake converters. That got old real quick. It has the same sound, with or without cats.

Yeah, I may go with cats too, if the exhaust smell is too much.

Thanks for the info. I don't have omissions where I live so I could go with out cats. How do the Vs sound with stock headers and stock cat back with just magnaflow mufflers? I've herd of muffler deletes also but I would think it sounds like ass.

I've been listening to the muffler deletes on you tube and they all sound pretty good with the rest of the exhaust stock. I guess the resonators keep most the rasp out. I'd say I'll do that first for a cheap sound mod. Does it hurt torque at all not having that back pressure?

I don't think it hurts torque or that there is a penalty. Honestly, I don't know for sure. A before and after dyno comparison would have the answer. My car came with mufflers deleted so its all I know. Sound is fantastic. From threads like these, I'm up in the air about going without cats now when I get headers next year. My F-body doesn't smell like exhaust without cats, but the V could be different.

Those are pacesetter adapters.

A sponsor Maryland Speed has them, heres the link

I can say I don't smell like exhaust when I get out the car. LOL I don't have cats.

The muffler deletes sound surprisingly good. I have headers and cutouts, and before my headers, i had just the cutouts and it sounded good.

Is this true? I was going to buy the Maryland speed Kooks' 1 3/4 headers and catted mid pipes. I thought this was going to be totally a bolt on installation. Am I reading this right?

Thanks,
TJ

io spent WAY too much but went through Marylandspeed(vendor) and got free ceramic coating on my Kooks with High flow cat connection pipes.

Love them.

This is true. The only way its a bolt on setup is with cat delete.

So how do the Kooks connection pipes mate with the stock exhaust? Do they just need to be butt welded together? Or are the pipe bends similar enough so that a coupling of some sort can be used?

Mine went to magnaflow. But since those were to stock headers. Plan on some cutting and welding. Think 10-12" was cut off the magnaflow to make it fit. But I wanted the best quality. OBX headers on past cars(sentra) had all sorts of issues and I stayed away from them.

WIth high flow cats and the 2.5 or 3 inch or whatever the magnaflow is... it sounds fucking SEXY as hell without being too much. Thikning about adding post cat cutouts for a little more on Cruisin weekends.

You will have to trim the OEM mid pipe. Then our Catted or Off-Road connection pipe will clamp to the factory exhaust.
