I think the Camaro is just getting long in the tooth. GM hasn't updated it since 2006. It is essentially the same car that went on sale in 2009.
The Mustang has had 3 major upgrades in that time, from the 2005-2009 bodystyle to the major redo in 2010 to the 2011-12 5.0's to the freshening up for 2013. Heck even the Challenger got an interior redo.

The Camaro gets by with same low rent lcd dot matrix read out from a 1980's Chrysler LeBaron , no Nav, Cartoonish interior.
I mean whats up with the vast expanses of painted plastic and those dumb Pods sticking out of the dash like an afterthought. And those god awful tail lights. At least change the tail lights already.

Oh and don't get me started on the **** poor visibility, or how the car feels like it is taking up a lane and half, or the 300 lb a piece homey wheels. Did I mention it weighs as much an SUV, and barely faster than the 4th gens it replaced.

I think all the chicks at Wal-mart bought theirs already and the 50 y/o non enthusiasts are moving on to the next biggest and bestest.

Build me a Camaro on the ATS platform with a Direct Injected screaming LSX weighing about 3500 lbs that gets high 20's mpg. If they can build that I will be back.

While I agree from an enthusiast standpoint that it needs a refesh, less weight, more performance, etc... I cannot argue that it is selling well.

Put it this way: Would you rather have a slightly better performing car that doesn't sell and maybe be axed by bean counters, or a car that sells well keeping the car around and is still the basis for good performance and even better with mods?

GM will ride the good sales as long as possible, it only makes good business sense. I expect a refresh in interior/exterior for 2014, lighter chassis is 2016 at the soonest.
