like the title says, wondering how to fix that light? its a digital reading, so I assume its not a simple bulb swap, but I'm not sure? I can see the numbers if I'm driving at night and i look REALLY hard, they barely light up at all. Its impossible to see during the day.
so how do i fix this?

There are three little LEDs with illuminate the LCD which are soldered in to the cluster. Not impossible to but intricate work. I changed mine to blue.
You have pull out the cluster and disassemble it. Do a search there are some write ups out there.

Did you check the fuse? How do your HVAC panel and radio lights look?

1998 cars still used a standard 194 bulb for the odometer backlight. The LED backlight didn't start getting used until 1999.
