I'm looking at the Melling m295 oil pump for my LQ9, on Northern Auto its $59.99
but it also says its standard pressure. So Is the only difference between this one and the $115.00 high pressure M295 one is a little spring....?

An M295 is not the same as the 10295 pump. The M295 is listed as an OE replacement. The 10295/6 pumps are made better, and have different housings with more machine work. They are in their "Select" line of pumps, more geared towards non-stock applications. That's where the price difference comes from.

The spring pressure is minimal believe it or not. The m295 is nothing special, If you are going to spend the money get the 10295 high pressure. It is the select and is a much nicer pump.

Unless you have a bigger oil pan I would stick with the standard pump, better pump will suck the pan dry unless increased volume is available...plus it isn't worth paying double for a few more psi of oil pressure...

This is correct with the 10296 high volume pump, stay away unless you have a much larger amount of oil available to you. The 10295 will use close to STD volume but will greatly increase the life of your bearings and lifters under high HP applications.

And the stock oil pumps pressure drops like a rock above 6500rpm's where-as the melling pumps oil pressure continues to increase to 8000rpm's . Not sure about the Melling M295 tho ?
