So, I've been searching this forum for quite some time, and now I need help from the experts.....I only hope the experts have some magic to offer me and don't tell me what I'm afraid is coming.
I have an 04 V that I got a few weeks ago. The Clutch has been sticking a little and research on this forum let me to try and bleed the clutch out....so I was working on loosening the bleeder which was tight, but I eventually broke it loose ....and now it is nowhere to be seen. I can reach up and feel a rectangular hole where I believe it used to be....
...now what?!

Someone else did this and managed to retrieve it with a magnetic wand.
The real trick will be re-installing it.
I suggest a piece of tape to jam it in a deep socket for the re-install.

Thanks for the tip....going down to try now. Definitely better than what I feared. I only hope something didn't break. I didn't get a whole turn on it I don't think. We'll find out if I can fish the damn thing out. Definitely did not anticipate this project turning into this big of a deal.

That thing screws in, so you may have broken it off, but that would have taken some torque.
Welcome to MOD HELL.

Magnet time!

Looks like the transmission is coming out tomorrow......don't have any idea what else to do. I don't really want to talk about what happened to the magnet. Time to do a bit of searching on best way to do this. If anyone has any handy links ready feel free to forward them....see how fast I can get a remote bleeder while I'm in there and best options for a new slave possibly...looks like the v's going to be down for a few days.
Thanks all for the quick help.

If you are pulling it apart, replace the clutch if it hasn't been done yet.
LS7 kit .
You dropped the magnet in didn't ya.

Read Fuzzy Wuzzy's thread a few down "More LS7/any Clutch"
Here is link to ls7 slave if you need it: http://m.oreillyauto.com/mt/www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/PTQ6/CS2529/01352.oap?year=2007&make=Chevrolet&model=Corvette&vi=1433663&ck=Search_01352_1433663_3689&pt=01352&ppt=C0015

broke the magnet off....clutch was allegedly replaced along with a rebuilt transmission less than 2k miles ago, so unless it looks totally jacked I'm going to leave it alone. Really would like to tear it apart and get it back together all tomorrow, but realistically probably not going to happen. I already sprayed exhaust bolts with Kroil...now I'm going to go drink ...... a lot ...and then suck it up and start tearing it down tomorrow.

Why the fuck didn't they install a remote bleeder in then?
That would be the second thing you do besides replacing the clutch.

not everybody knows about the remote bleeders, if you take it to todd's service and brakes in tuscaloosa, he probably doesn't know there's such a thing as a bleeder extension

I know that and some people don't install them, which is lame.
However, if you don't, bleeding the thing results in fluid all over the place.
Just a ranting comment on my part.

You shouldn't have to pull the transmission back too far to get the old bleeder out and see what it looks like, i would think with the trans pulled back 1" you could feel around/probe with a magnet to get it. If you are there I would put a remote bleeder in, but you will need to pull the transmission out further (but that is all going to depend on how quickly you need to put it back together).

Thanks for the extra tips. I think I will just slide the transmission back an inch or so first and see if I can assess the situation.
One stupid question. If I I need a slave, there are a million threads explaining which ones work with the LS7 clutch setup, but will the LS7 slave work with the stock setup?

No, the LS7 slave will not work with the stock setup.

Thanks to all of your help I got it out. Will the ls6 z06 slaves really work? They look different if the pictures are accurate.
I found this http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1135427
but I've never heard of "RHINOPAC"

The 2007 zo6 ls7 works in the cts-v with an ls7 clutch so I see no reason why a 2004 z06 ls6 wouldn't work.
If you feel uneasy just order one of the ones they list on RockAuto under CTS-V, only downside is they are more expensive.

I contacted this ad on CL. http://killeen.craigslist.org/pts/3145873017.html ... I'd have to have it shipped which is a bit of a gamble. Now I'm waiting for a reply if not I'll just order my new stock slave and go on.

As far as I know, the slave for the LS6 Z06 will not work for the V1.
I have only seen the V1 slave and LS7 slave used for the V1.
If anybody has used the LS6 slave I will stand corrected.

The high stack height for the V1 dual mass stock clutch setup is the reason why the V1 slave is so short and also the reason why a different slave won't work.

if your slave was replaced when they did the clutch i would try to remove the stuck bleeder. you may be able to notch it with a dremel and use a screwdriver.

I do not believe the slave was replaced just by looking at the condition of the fluid. It's not black or anything, but doesn't look like it only has 2k miles on it. Also the race on the front of the slave is worn out...can I get that seperately? It doesn't look like there's much to the slave as long as it's not leaking is it good?
Definitely cheaper to extract the broken threads and add remote bleeder, but as much fun as this was I really don't want to tear the transmission out in another month.
Again I want to thank everyone for all of the advice. You guys are great the advice made pulling the transmission pretty painless (just time consuming)
