Street Racing & Kill Stories - Got Killed By An Evo

I got duped into this race earlier in the week. It was supposed to be a stock turbo Evo IX MR with a 5 speed swap, cammed with all bolt ons.

Turns out, he just had an FP Black put on and tuned this morning, made 525whp maxing out the stock fuel system. After finding this out, I couldn't say no and said fuck it.

350 lb passenger for me, 3 skinny fellas in his car. He could've stuffed some anvils in there, he had over 100whp on me lol. He wasn't used to the lag so that's why I got out on him a couple cars.

Nice run! Your car sounds awesome as always. I HATE when dsm guys claim "stock turbo" but the only thing thats actually stock about it is the frame. That setup is capable of high 5's low 6's with the right supporting mods an FP black is comparable to a gt35r IIRC.

Yeah my buddy isn't the skinniest but even without him I'd be way behind in this race.

I dont understand the appeal of these turbos, especially given the price. They are almost always used in drag racing applications (street) where their advantages will never be used (fast spool, road racing durability)

I had the Red because it still used the completely stock housing. I tried to keep my Evo a "sleeper" back then, if you could call it that. The engine bay looked stock for the most part, even utilizing the stock upper intercooler pipe while being able to pull off upper 120mph traps.

I bought the Black right as soon as it hit the market, then after the first batch was sold out and the waiting list was hitting 3+ months, I turned around and sold it for a $300 profit.

Damn that evo ran away like a stranded virgin at night on mlk blvd, but like Zyborg said give you props for still running :headbang:

Great race! I ran an Evo with an FP Red that was making about the same power and it took a cam and 100 shot to run door to door with him. Some of the best races I've had in my Z28.

If he told you he had the stock fuel system, he was lying. Stock fuel injectors on an EVO are good for maybe 300whp. The fuel pump can only support a little over 400whp. Good runs though.

Going to have to disagree...not even on a mustang dyno. Ive made well over 350 whp on the stock pump and injectors...no meth, with meth the idc's dropped and we made even more power.

Stock Evo fuel system wont handle of 400 without meth. My buddies Evo 9 died on the dyno to make 415 with PTE6262... will fuel system work it makes 465 on pump.

LOL I don't know if he's trolling or not... Hopefully. That's a buddy of mine's car, it's an 83 with an RB20 swap. Nothing crazy, just as stock swap, investing in a larger, non-ceramic wheel turbo!
