Paint & Body Work - HELP! have vin, don't know color

I really need some help with this: I bought an orange 98 Camaro LS1 6 spd. I'm thinking selling it, but I think it has a rare paint color: SOM. was there ANY orange in 98?( factory ordered?) Was 'inferno red' actually a burnt orange w/ metallic flake? Or could I possibly be sitting on a '1 of 1'...?!?

I know that this orange color HAS to be more common than what the 'expert's say... I also bought a v6 98 for parts, and its the same color. Please help me

According to the link in the Camaro section SOM wasnt available until 2000. Id say someone painted it.

The color code should be on the door sticker as well.

This. Check the color code on the door and look it up to see what the code is for. That'll tell you if it was the original color or not.

look inside the drivers door jamb on both vehicles. there will be a sticker with a whole bunch of 3-didget letters/numbers. at the bottom row there will be BC/CC followed by a W then a 4-didgit number. thats the code. see if they match first of all

I have to thank you all... as it turns out, the color of my car is cayenne metallic red.

I found a link to several VIN decoders. One of them (cant remember the name, of course) took my vin and told me every thing about the car. Now I'm gonna have to give you the obligatory rundown: less than 2000 Cayenne red metallic made in '98. Then I plugged in the 6 spd, performance 3.42 rear, ttops, traction control... REAL factors, not 'built on Wednesday' or 'cd changer but no power antenna'.

if any of you remember GranTourismo, its the same exact Camaro!!!
Anyways, the car comes back to be less than 1 of 30. Seems TOO rare. Thoughts anybody

The color I should have got. Post a pic of the car! A buddy used to own one and it's location is unknown. It was not that popular of a color but I think it is the best!
