i'm thinking of buying the msd 6010 i was just wondering is when you buy from say jegs MSD Ignition #121-6010 its $319.99

Yep price match JEGS but you have to count shipping for the matched price offer...they got me good with that one! I thought I was gonna get a msd 6010 for $215 and the site charged like $75 in shipping and JEGS busted me lol...good luck man you will really like the unit it is about the most user friendly wiring ignition set up I have seen...

Timely post... I need to order this for my LS1 swap, but I was thinking the controller and harness were separate items.

The harness lists as a separate PN 60101 for $222???

That is crazy, last I checked msd will not allow sales below 276 or so but that was a couple years ago.

dammit, i wish i would've knew that yesterday...I just ordered the red 6010 from JEGS yesterday for $319....i could've saved some pennies...but i also ordered the transdapt 4595 plates so oh well....dang 253.88 for that box, SSSSHHHHIIIIEEEETTTT!

That link shows the older LS1/LS6 timing controller which isn't tunable. You can only use the pills.

^^the one you posted is the one I just ordered....But on Summits website, it also shows the black LS1/LS6 box when you search for (MSD 6010)...What if they are just differently labeled boxes or just a universal picture they have posted?

See here on Summits site it has the same box/picture...I chose the red box because it would look better under my hood and it says 6LS and i didnt wanna take a chance!

You ordered the one from Autoplicity? When you get it post up exactly what you get. If it's the proper red 6LS controller with the harness, data cable, and CD-rom then I'm sold and will order from them.

If it has the rev limiter I would suspect it is definitely tunable. The edelbrock box only uses pills and there is no rev limiter feature at all.

My understanding is that there is no "Edelbrock" box. The box that comes with the basic Edelbrock kit is made by MSD and is the older LS1/LS6 box. It's black in color and only accepts pills. This one...

Then you have the MSD 6LS controller for the LS1/LS6 which is fully tunable. It's red and comes with the harness, data cable, and CD-Rom.

Then you have the MSD 6LS2 for the LS2/LS3/LS7 etc.

Autoplicity and Summit are probably using old photos, but I'd want to verify 100% what I'm buying before I send payment.

thats how mines look according to the Jegs website and thats why I posted the other one I seen on Summits site yesterday which is the same pic as the one on Autoplicity...

yea thats the one I ordered.....and thats why I said they might be using different pics or outdated pics because on Summits site, the link i posted, i typed in MSD 6010 and it went to that page with the same black box......

the Edelbrock box (box in intake Kit 7118 or sumn like that) it is also a red box that only says LS1 controller i think..

You're right... it just says LS1 Timing Control Module and does say "Edelbrock" on it.

As far as I know the black one was the earlier one and the red one is a newer version. Mine is black and fully tunable. I bought mine back in 07 I think.

if you want the edelbrock one im going back to fuel injection its less than a year old with the harness and the pills for a 24x reluctor motor for $200 thanks.

Sure is... I wish Edelbrock would get on it and fix this complaintThat won't ever happen. MSD is building them for Edelbrock the exact way Edelbrock wants them built. They didn't want them to be tuneable.

Anyone know if the one Autoplicity is selling is red or black?The black ones are the older versions and even if you find one you're better off not to get it. They have had updates done to them and the red ones are a better box. Some of the earlier versions had trouble firing the plugs unless the starter and battery were extremly strong. If the were even a little bit weak, the motor might start and might not. Not all of them were that way, but it was a common problem. A member(Tosto Racing) had a lot of trouble with his. He had to use two batteries untill he sent it back to MSD for an update.

My Autoplicity Box is red and has 11/10/2011 stamped on the bottom... its new stuff

Just so you guys know the 6010 box is awesome. Easy as shit to tune and dead on accurate with timing. I sprayed 400 on my setup last night and pulled 16 degrees of timing from 26 and the timing mark was dead on on the plug. Plus this box sparks way harder then a pcm or distributor. Cheap as hell and hell of innovation from msd. Save me a lot of money from having to buy a digital 7 spark amplifier distributor and front cover.

Yet another advantage over the SBC, screw a distributer unless you have some unique requirement. These boxes do it all.

You have to buy it seperately.

Its the same one used on the vortec 96 up 4.3 and 5.7. Its also used on a lot of other engines, pretty generic.

I can't find it on Autoplicity anymore... anyone know what's up?
