Florida Members - Tampa/MacDill where to live?

Anyone in the Tampa/MacDill area that can recommend a decent place to live within about a 30-40 minute commute to MacDill? I've found a lot of places through the Automated Housing Referral Network that are within our budget, we are just not sure how safe the areas are and so on. Brandon and Riverview seem to offer the best prices and space to accommodate a couple with a little one on the way. I would just like some others opinions and suggestions before we make a final decision.

Marquis of Tampa a little bit up I-75 is very nice and not to expensive. I got a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom with garage for 850$ a month for a year.

I live in south tampa, north of gandy blvd.

If you dont have kids in school you can live in south tampa south of gandy but get eyes on what your going to rent if its a house because there are some rougher streets down there.

There are lots of apartments on Westshore blvd 10 minutes from the gate in that $1000 range.

sitting there waiting to getting in the gate will slow you down more than the commute
