well the car ran great,,, best pass was a 1.48 60ft and ran a 7.009 at 96 mph thats turning it to 6000rpm shifting,,,, also im only leaving at 1800 rpm's because my brakes wont hold good,,,,, this is with a 750 vac carb with only 66 jets in the front,,, ill put my 800dp hp carb on for next week,,,,

Damn, i cannot wait to get one of the boxes and drop a cammed 6.0 in, that car runs better than the 7.1 my car ran on average, it is 3450 with me in it though. And it was a 6 speed.

oh i know how it was to run a heavy car,, my 67 chevelle when i was alot younger,, then got a grand national that was even heavier than the chevelle,,,
here was my passes i made sat, it was a race but reallyjust getting a feel of the car,,, im a bracket racer..
1st pass 1.51 7.05 96mph left at 1800
2nd 1.49 7.02 96 same
3rd 1.49 7.02 96 same
4th 1.51 7.06 96 left at 1600
5th 1.49 7.02 96 1800
6th 1.48 7.00 95 2000
not bad for the first time out gota get them manual brakes better wont holdany higher than 2000... ill be going thur to a test and tune so i can try some new stuff and ill post what i find out
my timing curve on them was
oh yes if anyone wants me to try something i will,,, we here all to learn more
0-500 20 deg
500-1000 ramp to 35
1000- on up was 35 deg
speedtigger

windmill
08-15-2012, 06:45 PM
well im ready for some test and tune thur night heres what im going to do with timing
500-1000 ramp to 38 deg
1000-4000 is 38 deg
4000-5000 ramp down to 35deg
then 5000 to 6000 stay 35 deg
what u think,, i shift at 6000. u wont hurt my feelings is u see something wrong,, i just wanted to try more timing
speedtigger
08-15-2012, 07:44 PM
I will be surprised if a cathedral port headed motor likes that much timing, but your car is light. I guess we will find out when you test at the track.
AJGls1
08-16-2012, 06:55 PM
whatd you do to be that light? im at 3200 with me in it and just over half a tank of gas. thats also with my laptop, and other lil stuff i take to track
windmill
08-16-2012, 10:58 PM
well the mustang did not do to good,, the track was not to good tonight,,, plus it was hotter than last week 1.51 at 7.09 fastest,,, could not tell if it like the timing more,, cause it was spinning... maybe on race night will be better...

Windmill , how ar you getting that big air cleaner under the stock hood? How is your motor mounted, cause with my AJE K member and a Victor Jr manifold I have to heve a low profile air cleaner to barley squeeze under my 2in cowl hood?? Id love to throw a 2 inch spacer on my 6.0 but there isnt more than a 1/2 befor I hit my hood, please enlighten:nod: And those 60 ft times are nice. what do you think youd 1/4 in? Also I see Team Z control arms but what kind of rearend did you buil up?

08-22-2012, 10:59 AM
well the k member is from p a racing it did not have mounts when i bought it,, so i made them my self,, the motor is in there lower than usally. i set the motor as low as it could go,, i have a 1 1/2 inch drop rack. and also it moved back as far as i could go too,,,,, the breather is a 5 inch,, my hood is a 3 inch cowl it is diff from most too.....the rear end is a 8.8 with 31 spline axels and moser unit in it.....oh it would never make it ti the 1/4 to much gear.. if u neeed some diff pics i can take some...
thanks,, im lookin for alot better times thur for the test and tune..i had been running the 750 vac carb,, well i tryed my 800dp and it only ran a 7.11 so i took it back off so sunday me and wife was going to take it apart and my wife ask me why didnt i hook the 4 barrel up,,,dah dummy me the carb was on my 283 that was in it before i changed to the ls,,,, so it ran a 7.11 with a 2 barrel,,, i know most wont beleive me but it true so im pumped for thur to see what it will run....

Thats the best kind of suprise, your old lady must be pretty slick. Wait till you hit that car with some spray, youll be scraping the bumper:nod:

nice mustang. Its definately a strong runner for a stock engine. I also like the old c10 as the tow rig. It's a lot cooler to me than the typical dually and enclosed.
