Should be 706 heads. Could get lucky and they might be 799's which came on aluminum 5.3's. Either way, they will work fine with your porting and larger valves project.

799 heads will have the same vale size but smaller combustion chamber as well as bigger int/ex ports...the 706 heads have even smaller chambers but they have smaller valves and ports compared to ls1 heads...unless u getting it cheap I wouldn't buy for 706 heads, but if 799 then it's a good deal

Just sell the 5.3 block and use that money to build the heads.

If its a 2008 it will be 799 or 243s , 706 were used up to 2007 classic body style trucks. It will have the better nbss intake and 87mm tb also. Just curious what code is it LMG, LC9, LY5 or LH6.

Oh nice score it's an l33 I believe if it's aluminum...so it has the good flat top pistons and floating rods so you should have no problem selling the shortblock since they are desirable...and no you don't want to use that truck intake since they are built for low end torque rather than peak power

Its not a L33, last year for L33 was 2007 classic body style. If its alum its either LC9 or LH6.

I rented a Suburban back in early '08 to travel into Mexico. Couldn't believe the gas mileage and decent power from that 5.3. 22 MPG average....in a Suburban!!!
