Default milled ported 243 questions

may be getting a set of ported milled 243 heads for a good trade on some wheels i have, but i'm wondering if they are too much for a stock bottom end. been doing a lot of searching but really hard to say. the guy doesnt have any flow specs or even know how much was milled which kind of concerns me and also doesnt come with valves. not much history on them.

if i get them i will be feshening up the lower end with new crank, bearings, and rings. will also be upgrading lifters, oil pump, pushrods, trunion bearings, and timing chain, and will be getting a good cam to match. ive read good things on the torquer v3 cam.

car is an 2002 camaro A4 with 92,000 miles and is my daily driver. mods now are lid, ported TB, full exhaust, ATI Dampner, poly mounts, 3000 stall for now but will be upgrading to a 3600-3800 soon along with built tranny, 3.42 gears, and some suspension

should i do the trade?
are they too much for stock bottom end?
go back with stock valves or bigger?
is it worth getting heads sent off for flow specs and get cam to match?if not then what cam?
am i wasting my time with these heads?

any and all advice is appreciated

these are the pics ive gotten so far. havent seen them in person yet

I'm getting my 243's ported and milled as well for the lq4 I have... I'm debating on a cam still because idk what compression I'll wind up with. But as far as heads go.. I've hear people say that you could have the worlds worst cam and still make power with good heads..

all depends on how much your spending, valves and springs are not cheap, and ported 243's work great on stock bottom ends.

already has double springs. just needs valves... spending as little as possible, but will not cut any corners. especially since its my DD

one thing I can see just by looking at the pic, those are milled a ton, like .060+. You would have to run a thick gasket to run pump gas, would have to CC the chambers and see what they actually are but im guessing 55cc or so.

Otherwise the porting looks nice

you make a great point. i was looking at that as well... compared them to a few other pics online of milled heads and these look like theyve been milled at least .05 at minimum. almost looks like there isnt much more to take off. guess its a no go.

thanks

not necessarily if you are staying NA or a small shot, my 243s are milled .135, 46.5cc. so theres plenty left, but im gonna say those are around .080. Mine are into the lip of the valvejob on the intake side where those have a little bit left
