New LS1 Owners - Newbie Tech - what plug gap to run?

just got an 01 trans am pretty stock motor, headers, no cat, 3 inch exhaust noticed the plugs were ngk tr6 one step colder then stock gapped at .035 guy told me motor was tuned by owner before him,should i put in tr55 plugs n gap at.060?motor runs ok just seems like it should have more.

Tr6 gapped at .35 sounds like it might have been tuned for nitrous. which would explain it being sluggish without it.

I had NGK TR5's gapped at .043 in my car and after a while it began to misfire at high rpm's. I switched to the Autolite Copper plugs gapped to .040 and it runs awesome now.

ok i may try those plugs, i was thinkin maybe nos was used, u think a hotter plug would be good?

For a mostly stock motor, I would stick with a stock spec plug.

Mine has pretty much the same mods as yours. Headers, ORY and a Hooker Aerochamber, P&P TB, a tune and a lid. The stock type plugs seem to work very well.

True, no need for a different heat range than stock on a stock car. Seems like anything between .050"-.060" should work good. The TR55's I have in my car are gapped at .060" and there was a huge difference that was felt between these and my clapped out stock plugs.

tr55's are good for your car. just gap them around .55 and youll be good to go.

I'm not trying to come off as an ass, but do a search. I have explained this very topic multiple times myself, even very recently. You'll find some great info if you look for it.
