Cadillac CTS-V - anyone other than Cobra98 put an LQ9 in a V?

I made a thread over in Gen3 External, but nobody really seemed to have any ideas that would actually work.

I'm currently working on putting my 408 stroker into my 04 V, and the motor mount brackets aren't working well.

That's the side of the LS6 block, now imagine that without the two rear holes.

I either need an adapter that's going to let me bolt the current bracket to the engine, or someone to make a new set of brackets for the block portion of the mount.

Wow, didn't know that. I posted a while back asking if a LQ4 would bolt in and thought that the only problem would be one accessory bolt hole missing. I just looked at my 6.0 and don't have the last set of bolt holes either. You would think with as many different applications that LS go in there would be a bolt in solution.

Could you weld a threaded bung into the locations that the LQ9 doesn't have holes? Otherwise it seems like you would have to shift the location of the motor backward which does seem feasible.

Like RADeON said, I think the bolt on solution would be custom bracket from block to mount. The CTS-V looks like it has an alm bracket from block to mount. IMO I think some one like Creative could fab those brackets, if some one hasn't all ready done so. I wonder if there is any other LS cars that use the same style bracket as the cadi? Like maybe truck brackets? Can't think of any cars that came with an iron block.

Could the upper brackets of say a truck's motor mount be modified to work with V motor mounts?

No it won't. The V bracket center bolt holes go almost immediately in between where the center two bolt holes go.

I'm currently drawing up plans with 1/4 inch steel to where:

1. 2. 3.

4. 5. 6.

Pretend those are the LS6 bolt holes.

2 and 5 will bolt directly to the block, through the steel plate.

1 and 4 will bolt through the motor mount, and through the plate, into the block.

3 and 6 will bolt through the motor mount, into the tapped holes on the steel plate.

Sounds good to me. That's what I was thinking. Still can't believe this hasn't come up bf. Know it's not an F body or truck, so maybe the iron budget stroker topic hasn't come up bf? I looked at a lot swap mounts, and didn't see anything that would work. Would like to see your progress bc I'm keeping an iron LQ4 6.0 as back up, maybe for stroker NA combo for my V.

This sorta started as a budget build, but for an oil pump, lifters, ls9 head gaskets, fully forged 408, and shipping, it was almost 4,700.

you have the right idea.. steel plate with threaded holes for the mount and bolt it to the block.you might just have to make some shorter motor mounts with the added space of the plate. id wait for 98cobra to chime in on his solution but its prolly the same as we are all thinking

He had a new bracket made, but I'm gonna try it with this setup first. I asked him to get me hooked up with buddy who made it but he never replies.

Can you use A UMI mount since they only use one of the middle holes anyways ( at least that's how they look to mount)

Nevermind... I'm retarded and just realized the problem you're pointing out.

When I get under the car, I will take some pictures. It is a flat plate, with a triangle coming off it, that meets the motor mount bolt. It is pretty simple.

And I think the newer LQ engines have all the holes on the block. Its just the older blocks you run into this issue with.

My builder told me otherwise. I'm actually very pissed off right now. If it weren't for this motor mount situation, this fucking engine would be in by now. Instead I'm fucking around with brackets, drills, bolts and diagrams on something that "bolts right in"

this is fucking bullshit i am so pissed off

Wow I was working on it and a bolt that was holding it up broke and the engine fell right on my leg. That felt good.

Still better than falling on the floor. Sometimes you fail to see the positive side of things.

How many people are out there that need these brackets? If there is some interest, I will see if my guy will do a run of them.

I mean I could have used one.

I have an lq4 in mine. I have aluminum plates that adapt the stock mounts to the new block. I can email you a pic if needed

98cobra, I would be interested in some brackets. T23LS1, I would like to see your plates. RADEoN, hate that your having such a problem.

It's modding Radeon.....shit is never going to go smoothly. You'll forget about all this once that beast is in there and leaving rubber all over the place.
