Default Changing Oil Pan and Gasket Question... Need Help

I'm trying to change my oil pan and oil pan gasket. Car is currently sitting up on 4 jackstands with oil cooler and all pan bolts removed. My question is, what's the easiest/best way to get the old pan out and put the new pan in? Can I disconnect the tranny mount and use a cherry picker to lift the engine a couple inches to get clearance or do I have to disconnect the tranny, clutch and flywheel to slide it out the back?

No need to disconnect the transmission.

Yes, use your cherry picker to raise the engine - also, I had to drop the K-member a couple of threads to (finally!) clear the oil pump.

Good luck!

It sucks. I didn't disconnect trans mount. I did jack it up under the trans with a block of wood- no cherry picker. Get it up as high as you possibly can and loosen up the k member (I had to pull my k member down with a prybar) and you should be good. Might want to mark the K member where exactly the bolts go- if it doesn't go up in the same exact place your alignment will be off. Also I used a Fel-Pro one piece gasket- installed it dry and torqued to spec and have no leaks at all.

I'm using a lot of rtv this time... First time just tried torquing it down and it leaked, so i'm replacing all the bolts and studs too.
