Trade-in Opinions
So I bought my wife a new car the other day (Cadillac SRX...NICE) and now I have the new car itch.
SO I'm thinking about trading in my 07 GP GXP 69,XXX miles for:
an 04 GTO, 1 owner, very clean, 49,XXX miles, for 14k. Drives nice and solid.
or an 05 CTS-V don't know much about it other than it looks nice, haven't driven it. 72,XXX miles for 19k.
What do you all think? Opinions?

Yea the GTO was an auto and it has the single side exhuast which I don't like. But the price was nice and it was very clean. The CTSV has my wheels turning just because they're so hard to come by. KBB says they're both priced right. The GTO $3000 under actually. But do I like it better than my GXP is the question. Man.....decisions decisions

CTS-V is priced a little high, 17k would be ideal for an 05. I know you probably know but all first gen cts-v were 6 speeds. Just mentioning since the GTO and your GP are both autos. Check out the cts-v section it has a ton of info if you get more serious about that and there are plenty for sale in the cts-v classified section.

Yea...think I'm gonna stay away from the CTSV...just found quite a few STSs...didn'trealize they came with Northstars and are RWD...for some reason I thought they were FWD. Seems the STSVs are really rare. The G8 just doesn't really appeal to me anymore. And I'm really trying to stay away from any foreign cars. Trying to stay below 20K too. I'm sleepy and rambling...guess I'll sleep on it and go test drive a few more cars tomorrow. lol

Well after doing some soul searching, test driving and looking at dozens of other cars, and spending some much needed quality time with my GXP; I've come to the realization that I like my car a lot more than I thought.
It's comfortable, powerful, looks good, it's unique and it's almost paid off! There's a ton of G8s, Mustangs, Cameros, GTOs, Chargers, Challengers and Corvettes out there. A V8 Grand Prix on the other hand is a rarity and strikes up conversations all the time.
After a good detailing, new tires, oil change and cleaing the air charger...it truely does feel like a new car.
Now it's time to fix this check engine light and oil pressure sensor!!

I looked at all those cars that were listed before test driving the GXP. I actually put the GXP to the side of those because it wasn't rwd. After the test drive, I think I was hooked.
But, my faith will be about 5 yrs long.. By then the kids will be bigger and then it may be Vette or Camaro time.

I'll give you some choices since I'm in the market as well.
03-08 Jaguar s type r. 400hp and rwd, nuff said. You can find an 03-05 for around $12k with 60k to 80k miles. All the mechanics staid the same on these cars.
04-08 Jaguar xjr. Same motor and trans as the str but bigger and is an all aluminum body. Those are a bit more in the $19k to 25k range
06-09 Cadillac sts-v. Supercharged dohc v8 pushing 469hp to the rear wheels. Around $23k
03-06 Mercedes amg e55 with 469hp. Find the around $21k
03-05 Audi s4 with 344hp. Nice car since it's awd. Not the quickest of the bunch. Around $21k
As you can see lots of cars to buy for cheap. I didn't mention an m3 since I'm not a huge bmw fan and don't want to deal with the electronic gremlins. The Jaguars seem to be reliable from what I have read, along with the rest of them.
My choice for the price will probably be the Jaguar str. Factory 400hp but with an intake, pulley and exhaust for around $2k you can be getting around 460hp.

Personally, I'd go for the goat. '04 is what I'd want to have as it looks much better/cleaner than the non functional hood and goofy rear bumper. LS1 is a proven winner except for some reason in the GTO. I got mine down to 13.25 bone stock and 12.3 with a wimpy LPE GT2-3 cam and LS6 heads. They are easy to make fast just like the LS2.
But anyway, can't go wrong with any GTO
