That's a healthy can for beehives. I would definately run dual springs with that. I also would not run 1.8 rocker. Stay 1.7.

I don't think you can run 1.8 rockers on that either.

The cam is already too big, the springs are too weak, the 1.8 rockers are going to make it even worse, and the 317 heads are going to drop the compression. I think you seriously need to rethink your combination.

Well I only had the 317s on because I was going to go turbo until I saw the glory of all motor setups. but right now I'm looking at a set of 241 or 243s but my budget is a little tight and payday is 2 weeks away so I can afford the 241s but I want to set it up right

I agree with KCS 100%!!! Stock cubes, 317's & way over-cammed= turd.. That combo would have the all motor glory of a 4.3 v6 with 2.73 gears in a 1 ton truck.

Some ported 243's from AI or even 241's with [B]1.7[B] rockers and some springs good to .650 (PRC duals would fit the bill) Either way that's a really aggressive cam and it will feel like a dog down low with 317's. 5.3L heads would be better to get the compression up.

The 1.8 rocker would give you a lift of .648". Even with a 1.7 rocker you will need to check PTV clearances.

You may want to look at LS1GTO.com (GTO forum). Lots of guys over there run that monster. You would be able to see what valvetrain setup they use to compliment that cam and get an idea on dyno numbers, track times, powerband, etc.

If I recall correctly the Megadeath cam was cut to be an all out stock longblock cam. If you are going to run that cam keep your 1.7 rockers, don't use 317 heads, and get some 3.73s and a tune.

What's your goal with the car? That's a big cam that'll love the strip but little else. And I'd recommend 4.10s with that if an M6 or a 4000+ stall in an A4.

I'm aiming for a street able 450RWHP and yes it's a M6 with 3.73s. I found a set of ported 243s that'll I'll be picking up

Going to take a pretty big cam with an LS6 intake, and a stock set of 243's even ported 243's to make that and still be as street-able as a smaller cam.

All depends on the port work really, if it's a set of AI heads or TEA heads then yea I can see it doing that with a street-able cam.

I would also consider 4.10's with the 6 speed unless you have to keep the 3.73's.

1.8's will make the lift even higher, the duration higher and ramp ratio higher all things that I bet those springs can't control.

We have a great valve spring package if you're interested. Zero failure rate with the springs I'd like to see you use.

Just do a lot of research and the number you are looking for will be fairly easy to accomplish with the RIGHT parts...think before you buy but the ported 243s are a good start and you don't always need a donkey dick cam to make good power...good luck

I second the TEA Stage 2 LS6 heads. You can get them with turned down LS3s for a lighter valve and the Brian Tooley Racing springs (which is what TEA used to use before moving to PAC). Mill them down .030" and run a thinner gasket and flycut away.
