Thinking about installing a ls9 CAM now that I'm maggied up. I think the ls9 would be a good choice because I want the driveability and I don't want the choppy sound a bigger cam may give. Just wanted to know if anyone has run this set-up. I dyno'd 451 and was wondering what I could expect by going with a ls9 set-up. thanks

You should see about 25 whp. I would get the 2.6 pulley at the same time. The nearly 20* exhaust split will really help the motor breathe, esp since you already have headers. Best part is that you are looking at $200 in the cam, springs, and gaskets since you already have an LS2. Really hard to beat in your case.

That's a minuscule cam. It's designed to idle smoothly above all else. Don't bother.

The LS2 is a 204/211 .525/.525 117.5 LSA
The LS9 is a 211/230 .558/.552 122.5 LSA

My cam is a very mild blower cam, and it's comparatively huge. If I could do it all over again, I'd go with something bigger.

Talk to Thunder Racing or Texas Speed for advice. You can quickly mess up your engine, if you don't do your homework very carefully. You don't want to drop a valve.

^^ Please explain how one can drop a valve with a LS9 cam and LS9 springs.:corn:

A broken spring or valve spring lock.

Ls9 springs wOnt break with a ls9 cam. Atleast when installed correctly

That's exactly what I'm thinking.
By that log1c, all LS9 engines in the ZR1's are ticking time bombs :bomb:

I have the ls9 cam and springs with stock locks and retainers.. Been beating her for months and she loves it.. Car is Maggied and overdriven at 10lbs. I'd say it's working fine and drivability is better than stock

I think there are better cam options for your setup but the LS9 will gain you some power.

I have an LS9 cam for 100 shipped, if you want it.
