Advanced Engineering Tech - Can a worn out harmonic damper lead to timing retard?

Is it possible for the elastomer in the balancer to be worn out enough that the vibrations are no longer being absorbed and can lead to the pcm pulling timing back? Or on a stroker engine the balancer just not absorbing enough vibrations throughout the rpm range that it would pull out timing? Thanx

Physically, no. Electronically... ?

if the engine goes out of balance because of the disintegration of the polymer.. the knock sensors ..may.. pick it up as knock.. maybe..

Why would the PCM pull timing (how would undamped crank oscillations be picked up by the PCM)...?
