Default Sealed auto tranny?

I am looking at a used BMW and it has a sealed auto tranny. It looks like it is leaking slightly at 60K miles.

I can't tell yet if it is the front seal/pump, rear seal/bearing, the pan gasket or something else....

Apparently, these units don't have a dip stick.

Question: How do you service these; pull the pan replace the filter and pump new fluid back through the aluminium case????

I worked as a transmission builder in the 1970's but have had a desk job since. I don't understand the logic behind a sealed unit.
