How much does this cost?

08-13-2012, 09:39 PM
7 bucks a can, i figure the V would take roughly 5-6 cans.

LOL Funny you should mention that. I've truly been contemplating this. There's a spot here in NYC where they'll dip your car for you for about $500. I was just more worried about getting the actual paint in large enough quantities. I have someone who does paint already, and will probably charge me cheaper to paint it.

I definitely want to do it, but at the moment, I have bigger fish to fry.

It looks bad ass.

Why did you have to post that?

Just bought the full kit with white dip to test on my 242 volvo.

It will be another 4 months before i can do it but will indeed post pics when it is complete.

theres a photo floating around google of a matte white wrapped 2011 v that looks awesome!

A set of wheels takes 3 cans.. an entire car takes WAY more than that. You'd be better off buying the gallon on $60 a gallon there. Also, aerosol sprayers are much harder to spray evenly on those large surfaces and would be very tedious. A wagner sprayer would work cheaply and effectively. You can find them on amazon for like $60 shipped. Then if you wanted you could do other peoples' cars for a couple bucks.

I did the front bumper of my V white just for fun. The front bumper alone takes almost 3 cans. They sell it in aerosol spray cans (what I used) or regular, albeit small, cans of actual "paint." I was planning to do the whole thing, but I'll be honest, I did a decent but not good job. With that kit, I know it would be A LOT easier than what I was doing. I have a crappy phone pic I'll try to load here in a little bit.

This seems like a terrible idea.

Because of its matte finish, Plasti-dip attracts dirt like a magnet and is difficult to clean. Black is bad enough--I typically repaint my plasti-dipped wheels rather than attempt to clean them. I can't even imagine how often I'd have to redo them if I chose white instead.

Any comments on keeping the white front bumper clean?

08-14-2012, 10:59 AM
yea they now have a way special rubber live cloth on i guess it helps you just wet your car down with soap rub this cloth over it and let it air dry

Kinda just looks like a shammy that I already have.

08-14-2012, 11:19 AM
ooo, camo.

Maybe I'll lift it, but some mud tires on it, and spray it with a camo dip and drive it to the hunting camp.

Unfortunately no. It was on for maybe a couple hours. I didn't like the way it looked so I took it off.

Hmmm... could be an interesting blank slate for a project like this:

If someone did a sharpie car theme on the V i think it could look really good.

08-14-2012, 01:19 PM
You wouldn't be able to draw on it like that. It has a texture to it, so it's not completely smooth. It's not rough by any means, but drawing those kind of designs would be VERY difficult. Idk if there is a way to lightly sand it to where it is completely smooth though.

08-14-2012, 01:28 PM
I think it would be drawn on just fine. Sharpies draw on anything. Especially the industrial strength markers which are what that artist uses.

08-14-2012, 02:34 PM
I have no doubt that it could be drawn on, but it would not be as easy as drawing on a white wrap.

Would have liked to see the doors completely white but it looks SICK!

11-27-2012, 10:26 PM
The strip on the doors has to go of course, then add embz.. Even then it just doesn't look right.. Maybe it's the black grilles or that it's too white.

Back in the day there was a V that was photoshopped in artic white and it looked awesome..I might have it buried somewhere..

How did you get 5 lug on your V?????

Probably Corvette hubs and Camaro rotors, but I'm still waiting for someone to confirm that Camaro SS rotors allow you to keep the e-brake.

Not my car, just love the way it looks...

11-28-2012, 10:16 PM
when threads get off track like this we should just spam the sh*t out of them.
