Stereo & Electronics - Immobalizer issue

I am having some issues with my immobalizer. it is a "gm accesories" immobalizer, pretty sure it was put on by the dealership. 1998 trans am is what its in. The way it works is I swipe this fob close to the shifter and then it beeps, then i can start it. The problem is , it is very inconsistant and i can sit for a hour sometimes swiping away until it beeps. Any one have experience taking these things out? looking for a write up or some info on how complicated this thing is to remove/bypass. The reason i want to remove it is because i went to the dealership and they said they no longer have this item and i can not order new fobs.

The easiest way to remove this piece is to follow the 2 wires that will be hooked to your starter wire of the car (which is a 12g yellow wire). Your yellow starter wire will be cut in half, with the cut ends being hooked up to a wire coming from the GM piece. Just cut those 2 wires, and reconnect them back together, basically eliminating the GM security piece and putting your starter wire back together.

The GM system is basically acting as a starter kill. Simple circuit.
