Street Racing & Kill Stories - 5.3/T56 swapped 91 Trans Am vs bolt on G8 GT **VID**

Had a chance to line my brothers TA up against ScreaminredZ's G8 GT tonight. The 5.3 is running strong, and even being untuned it impressed us that it was able to hang with the G8. Hoping to have an LS6 intake and a tune on it soon, and it should wake it up a bit more!

Cars and mods

91 TA: 2004 5.3, LS6 cam & valvesprings, longtubes, exhaust, viper T56, and a moser 12 bolt with 3.73's.

G8 GT: Intake, longtubes, underdrive pulley, and tune.

Race was from 2nd gear to top of 4th. Can't hear it in the vid really but we bumped limiter quick from 3rd to 4th since the tach is off by quite a bit. Would have loved to get a run from 1st gear too, but the area was swarming with cops so we called it a night.

I got to ride shotgun in both cars last night, the G8 has got some crazy top end, and the TA pulls really hard for basically a bolt on/ls6 cammed 5.3L, I'm really surprised.

why did you put a ls6 cam in there , if you were doing the were for a cam why install that ?

The engine was originally supposed to be turbocharged, so it's built accordingly...but with the season getting closer to fall, my brother really just wanted to drive the car a bit, so he slapped the longtubes on and got it running. Still has the whole already made hotside setup so possibly this winter it'll go turbo.

It was a good time! Really wanted to try a 1st gear but circumstances didn't call for it. SRZ, got the vid from your car?
