I have the MSD 6012. What did you guys run the red power wire to. I was going to run a relay from the battery, triggered by the ignition switch.

According to MSD, it's supposed to be wired directly to the battery...

I understand that, just just wondering how you turned it on/off

The point is, you don't "turn it off", there's another wire for that. Have you looked at the wiring diagram that came with it? If you don't have one, they can be DL'ed from the MSD site.

Theres only 3 loose wires. red, yellow, and the grounds.

You're right! I must have been thinking of the old 6-AL series. Should work direct to a 12v keyed source or through a relay, either way...

Yeah, your thinking of the old 6AL series. I just wired one of those this last weekend and it had a keyed hot and a constant battery hot. My MSD 6012 is just like his, with a red, yellow and a ground. Eric L

In my 67, I had to find a keyed hot that stayed hot even in the start position. At first I had it on a keyed hot that went dead in start pos and car wouldnt start, obviously, then I checked to make sure there wasnt a battery specific wire and a keyed hot wire on it via instructions and that's when i figured out there was only one hot.
