Street Racing & Kill Stories - Damn Saleen...GO!

Well i was driving back to my dorm from MORE and on the interstate i spotted a newer style Saleen S-281. The guy looked like he was in his mid 20's. I pulled up (with clear lanes ahead for about 1/2 mile) and threw a rev...nothing. Did it again...this time he looked over and i could see him chuckle. I gave a little gas and leaped ahead, then came back even with him. Once again nothing. So I just said screw it and i kept on going. I still don't get why people by Saleens or any fast car and not go when there is a fast car wanting to go. :confused:
Now any of you who are gonna post and say "well he was being smart" and all that :bs: don't even bother posting...just hit back on your browser and get the hell out of the street racing forum. And stop bitching :cry:

In my case right now, I can't run anyone. My A/F is fucked so I'm staying real low rpm. I actually ran across a few guys today in SS's and I couldn't go. I got a thumbs up anyway. I returned it and kept driving.

There are reasons sometimes....usually it's because guys are pussies though. ;)

well, you and i know you are competition for him, and likely quite faster than him, but he doesn't necessiarlly know that. it's possible he bought a saleen and thinks he is god of the street, and sees no reason to run you. he likely thinks he is in competition with vipers and twin turbo 911s, and believes lt1s are not competition for him. think about if an 11 second civic was to throw revs at you... it would probably sound all the world to you like a 14 or 15 second civic. maybe you'd race him, maybe you wouldn't, but a lot of people in here seem to think it's not worth the gas or the ticket to race something that you belive that you obviously outclass.

I understand that and thats why i hit it to show him that i am VERY fast. I did that to eliminate that variable.

everytime i asked him to go wit me at the track and run, he always have

Most likely you did not hound him enough. It works on Ferrari's and Porsche's also. Eventually they can get so sick of the attention that they dip in.

Ok, I was being a bit sarcastic, but seriously there are lots of times that I am not in the mood to race on the street. Owners of cars like this can take a VERY long time to break in (both for the car and the driver). Nice to know that you have such a kick-ass car in the area. Hopefully you will run into him again and he will be in a more energetic mood.

I always call them the saleen appearance package :)

the saleen s281 isn't really much to speak of... although it looks nice and supposedly handles well. the supercharged version isn't bad. the S281-e though is supposed to be putting out about 465hp if i remember right. that is nothing at all to sneeze at. although it costs an outrageous ammount. $65k. for $65k you can buy yourself a c6 with an ls2, strap on a hundred shot, beat the s281-e, and pocket the $20k in savings.
