New LS1 Owners - Newbie Tech - Got my first ss camaro!

So excited!!! I'm 18 years old and just picked up my first 2000 SS Camaro. It's 100% Original with 65,000 Miles. The car is an SLP car. It's a 6speed and has t-tops with leather interior. The tires are brand new all around with 2 brand new tires and the SLP car cover. The car was also just serviced. New brakes, oil change, rad flush, spark plug change, and new cats. The car was owned by the original owner and was always garaged kept during winters. The car is pretty much flawless and has very little to no scratches. It's in amazing condition for the year. I am beyond happy with my find. The only downside is the headlights are foggy.... I was surprised to find no bubbling on the pilar... Ill attach some pictures. let me know what you guys think.

You can clean up those lenses for materials $10 stuff at any parts store.

I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow and see how it goes....

Looks good! I picked up the same car about 7 months ago. I'm only 17, very fun to drive. Love those wheels to, I have a set in my garage I need to put on.

Just an FYI, every single LS1 SS that was ever produced was done by SLP. They are all SLP cars. :)

Very nice find. Headlight restoration is a common thing to have to do with these as they age. It's due to UV exposure and lack of protection (such as wax). You can restore the originals, or replace them if you wish.

Wish i had an ss but my z is good enough for me. As for the slp package i dont think they all came like that. I belive slp got the ss put on an exhaust and high flow lid? Maybe some suspension? Someone help me out with that one.

The base SS package was done by SLP. The additional SS options (if so equipped) were done by SLP. If the car is a 4th gen and said "SS" on it before it was ever titled, it was done by SLP. Take any VIN number for any original 4th gen SS and call SLP, and you can get a build number - because they did the conversion. :)

Sick car man. I'm jealous of your black interior... Mine came with Tan, but other than that they're almost identical.

Nice car looks just like mine. Somebody messed with the bowtie & SS badges on the back thats not how theyre supposed to go. Look at the pic I posted in your other thread, thats how they should go.

Maybe it's me but the fender emblems look a little higher than they should be too.

I bought the car off an older gentlemen he was retired and everything i cant see him changing the emblems around.... He probably wouldve told me.... He said he never touched the car. Maybe the factory screwed up?

Your front fender emblems look completely fine but the rear badges have definitely been altered at some point, the factory did not do that I can assure you. Clean car though man, reminds me a lot of mines when I got it delivered April 2011. I was stoked, was a fantastic way to finish off my senior year of High school :nod:

Probably had body work for whatever reason...and sloppy work putting them emblems back by the bodyshop.

The fender badges look ok but this is correct placement of the rear emblems.
Hell, I have seen those emblems put on the left rear also. Thats the only thing I see wrong other than the headlights but those should clean up real easy.

No, absolutely not. These were aftermarket items sold by SLP that individual owners have installed on the cars you have seen. None of them came stock with that badge.

One question for some of the other board members, I was under the impression that all '00 to '02 cars did not have the EGR running into the intake like '98 and '99? I see this car has it and was just curious.

I have the stock headlights with black housing as well and I'm very happy with the look. Pop some silver star ultra bulbs in there and you'll be good to go!

Im 18 as well and got my 01 ws6 about 3 months ago. Love having my ls1 instead of whatever 4 banger with a set of 12's in the back like everyone else our age drives. The sweetest sounding system you can put in a car is an exhaust system!

EGR was present from the factory on all '98-'00 F-body LS1s. It was not present on the '01-'02 models.
